Sister Bay’s first festival of the year on June 13, 2015 heralds the beginning of Summer and provides an opportunity for everyone to get outside and enjoy life. Sip & Savor is a celebration of Door County’s finest wines, cheese and Sister Bay restaurants. Paddlefest provides you an opportunity to demo this seasons kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards and get tips from the pros. The Roofing of the Goat Parade is a goofy celebration of a Sister Bay landmark.
Saturday, June 13:
11 a.m.-4 p.m.: Paddlefest: Whether you’re an old pro, or a newbie, check out the latest kayaks and stand up paddleboards at the Sister Bay Beach. The friendly, experienced staff from Bay Shore Outfitters will show you the tricks for a successful paddle experience from the beach in Sister Bay, and give you a 30-minute SUP lesson for $10.
12:30 p.m.: Roofing of the Goats Parade! Join or watch the festivities of the third annual Roofing of the Goats Parade with a new Goat Plop contest. The parade starts at 12:30 p.m. All goats are invited to participate in the parade. Buy a ticket for the Goat Plop contest day-of, or ahead of time at: Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik, Husby’s Food & Spirits, Sister Bay Visitor Center or the KOINONIA Cupboard Food Pantry. If a goat poops on your mark, you’re entered to win a Fat Tire Cruiser Bicycle, 2014 custom edition, from New Belgium Brewery. Bicycle donated by Flanigan Distributing and Husby’s. Proceeds go to KOINONIA Cupboard in Sister Bay. Goat costumes, goatees, Viking hats and costumes, and other creative endeavors are encouraged and invited to walk in the parade. Parade line up starts at 12 p.m. in the parking lot on east Mill Road. The parade route is on Hwy. 42 from Mill Road to Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, where the parade will finish with the first ‘Roofing of the Goats’ of the season (weather and temperature permitting).
1-5 p.m.: Sip & Savor: Swirl and sample wine and hard cider from 7 Door County wineries: Door Peninsula, Harbor Ridge, Island Orchard Cider, Parallel 44, Orchard Country and Simon Creek. Savor cheese from Door County cheesemakers: Vern’s Cheese and Chef Terri Milligan. Taste your way through Sister Bay restaurants’ select menu items during the Taste of Sister Bay.
Tickets are $25 for wine, cheese, and food, $5 for kids 10 and younger.
