Sister Bay’s first festival of the year on June 8, 2013 heralds the beginning of Summer and provides an opportunity for everyone to get outside and enjoy life. Sip & Savor is a celebration of Door County’s finest wines, cheese and Sister Bay restaurants. Paddlefest provides you an opportunity to demo this seasons kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards and get tips from the pros.
Saturday, June 8:
10:30 a.m.: Hat decorating for kids in the Village Hall (to wear in the parade)
11:30 a.m.: Children’s parade (Line up @ 11:15 a.m. and costume/bike decoration judging in parking lot behind Bhirdo’s Shell station) All kids are welcome – bring bikes, trikes, scooters, etc. decorated to show off in the parade! Prizes for the best costume! The Boy Scout Color Guard and the Gibraltar Middle School Band make the parade even more festive. Awarding of parade prizes takes place in Waterfront Park after the parade.
Parade starts at Sunset Dr. and travels on Highway 42 to the Post Office in Waterfront Park – make sure you get a spot early so you don’t miss the parade!
11 a.m.-4 p.m.: Whether you’re an old pro, or a newbie, check out the latest kayaks and stand up paddleboards at the Sister Bay Beach. The friendly, experienced staff from Bay Shore Outfitters will show you the tricks for a successful paddle experience from the beach in Sister Bay, and give you a 30-minute SUP lesson for $10.
After parade until 4 p.m. Kids Games hosted by the Boy Scouts
12-4 p.m.: Swirl and sample wine and hard cider from 6 Door County wineries: Harbor Ridge, Island Orchard Cider, Orchard Country, Red Oak, Simon Creek, and Von Stiehl. Savor cheese from Door County cheesemakers: Door County Creamery, Renards and Schoolhouse Artisan cheese. And learn more about cheese and wine during demonstrations by the professionals throughout the afternoon. Taste your way through Sister Bay restaurants’ select menu items during the Taste of Sister Bay.
Tickets are $10 for wine and cheese, $10 for food at Taste of Sister Bay, $5 for kids 10 and younger.
12-2 p.m.: Enjoy the sounds of musician Katie Dahl
2-4 p.m.: Enjoy the sounds of musicians David Hatch and Lynn Gundmunsen
7 p.m. Bonfire next to the Village Hall. Materials for S’mores will be provided – yum!
