Handmade Leather Bags
The Turtle Ridge brand is best known for signature limited edition handbags from the finest domestic and Italian leathers. Mary Ellen designs a range of leather bags from briefcases to small accessories, which are beautiful, functional and durable. Choices range from classic to contemporary.
Turtle Ridge has chosen artisan lines in luxurious alpaca, cashmere, silk and linen. Timeless, functional pieces that span the seasons compliment many of the bags, belt and accessories made in the studio. Handmade jewelry and hats complete the ensemble and your personal style. Trunk Shows of exceptional artists and craftspeople are scheduled throughout the season.
With 40 years of experience Mary Ellen has brought her love of leather and stones to a new level in mixed media artwork. Her work is often commissioned for client’s homes and offices here in Door County or elsewhere. The subjects vary from abstract to subjective themes, evoking the preciousness of the environment.
Mary Ellen shares her studio and knowledge with others, by offering Art Camps scheduled throughout the year. Participants are walked through the creative process of making a bag or item with expert help. No sewing skills are required. Private family and friend Art Camps can be scheduled.
Turtle Ridge is situated next to the Mink River Nature Conservancy, an inspiration to the work and visitors alike. Turtle Ridge is a member of Ellison Bay Arts and opens their studio for demonstrations, visiting artists and special activities during the Spring and Fall Art Crawls.
